Tu Meke = too much. Common usage = awesome. You can never have too much awesome yarn!
When looking around for a local dyer, I found a diamond! Carissa is the indie-dyer at Tu Meke yarns and her work is amazing. Her colour-ways are inspired by places back home in her native New Zealand.
I simply cannot rave about these yarns enough ... even if I can't actually pronounce most of them. Ok, all of them.
Aoraki is inspired by New Zealand's highest mountain (Aoraki/Mt Cook) in the South Island. It is a neutral of beige and grey with speckles of grey, purple, and yellow/gold.
Hokitika is inspired by the pounamu (greenstone) found on the moody west coast of the South Island of New Zealand.
Tamatea (Dusky Sound) is inspired by the dark waters on a grey moody day in Fiordland in the South Island of New Zealand.
