After many requests, here is the beanie pattern to go with the gorgeously squishy MosCowl pattern!

This is written for DK, Worsted and Aran weight yarn. Annoyingly, Ravelry only allows me to list it under one yarn weight. (possible update later in the year will include 4 ply and Chunky).

Knit in the round, this slouchy beanie has a gorgeously squishy wave effect texture and the nice, easy to work, double brim gives you a ‘must have’ beanie. Make one but prepare yourself as then everyone will want one so that’s Christmas sorted!

This pattern is written in full, in three weights (DK, Worsted and Aran). There are handy progress check boxes, so you can keep a visual track of where you are.

For fit reference, I have a 22 inch head and that is me in the pictures and the fit is perfect (but has more room to give if needed).

You will need the following :

DK
• Approx. 75g
• 3.5mm (US 4) circular needles, 16 inch / 40cm or longer with magic loop (or size required to obtain gauge). 3.5mm (US 4) dpn’s for decrease if not using magic loop.

Worsted and Aran
• Approx. 80g
• 4mm (US 6) circular needles, 16 inch / 40cm or longer with magic loop (or size required to obtain gauge). 4mm (US 6) dpn’s for decrease if not using magic loop.

BOTH
• Crochet hook and length of scrap yarn for provisional cast on.
• Tapestry needle (for sewing those dreaded ends in).
• Second needle for use when folding the brim (you’ll find this easier if you can use a needle one size smaller than your working needle.

Gauge and Size
DK : 3.5mm (US 4) needles : 11 stitches and 16 rows (2 inch / 5 cm stocking stitch).
Worsted : 4mm (US 6) needles : 9 stitches and 14 rows (2 inch / 5 cm stocking stitch).
Aran : Using 4mm (US 6) needles : 8 stitches and 12 rows (2 inch / 5 cm stocking stitch).

Blocking is not strictly required but will help your stitches ‘settle in’. If you do block, only do it gently and do not overstretch as you will potentially lose the ‘waves’. I block my hats by lightly spraying and wearing around the boat.
Measurements when unblocked and laid flat :
Height : 24cm, Width at brim : 24cm

Skills you will learn/use
• Provisional cast on.
